Calling someone with a pulseJuly 12, 2009 12:02 pm
It's been 12 days, and I haven't seen a post other than my own. Let's start gearing up for the new season! Is anyone familiar with the signed recruits who will be attending LaSalle, St. Joes, Temple and Penn? I haven't read too much in the Philadelphia Inquirer. soloking2 Category: NCAAB New Big 5 MemberJune 30, 2009 10:11 pm
For some of you, I've already made contact, with various posts. For others in the " Big 5 " B.B. group, I would like to introduce myself. As a Nova alum, I've been following " Big 5 " games for 49 years. That's right, I'm a " Big 5 " dinosaur fan. The" Big 5 " teams, although not officially a conference, drew tremendous respect from opposing coaches over the decades. Just ask " Digger Phelps " . The " Big 5 " seemed to always have powerful Temple, LaSalle and St Joe"s teams during the 1960's along with numerous very talented coaches. Students attending the " Big 5 " schools loved when one of its members knocked off outside quality teams such as Providence with the great Hal Lanier, or, Western Kentucky in triple overtime in the NC.A.A. semi-final in 1971, or Minnesota with 7 ft Henry Finckel during the Holiday Festival in Madison Square Garden in 1963, or etc., etc., etc.. Let's keep in touch pre, co and post season. soloking2 Category: NCAAB Villanova and Temple in NCAA TournamentApril 14, 2009 5:40 pm
The Villanova Wildcats and the Temple Owls both made it to the NCAA tournament this year. Villanova made it to the Final Four and lost to North Carolina, the National Champions. The Owls lost in the first round to Arizona State who lost to Syracuse in the next round.
